Q3 – Which of these is a valid reason to vote by proxy?
Q4 – What happens if you don’t have an accepted form of photo ID for voting in person?
Q5 – Which of the following is NOT an accepted form of voter ID in England?
If you don’t have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. This lets you vote in person without needing other ID.
Only certain official photo IDs are accepted at polling stations – this includes passports, driving licences and PASS cards. College or university IDs are not currently accepted forms of voter ID.
To vote by proxy you need a valid reason. This includes being away on polling day, being registered as an overseas voter, having a medical issue or disability, or not being able to vote in person because of work or military service.
