Freelance Teacher Consultants

The Politics Project is recruiting a small pool of Freelance Teacher Consultants to support the creation of high-quality democratic education for schools and colleges across the UK.
We are particularly looking for teachers currently or recently working in secondary schools or colleges, with a specific interest in those who have worked in Further Education Colleges. We welcome applicants from all parts of the UK.
About the role
As a Freelance Teacher Consultant, you will work with the Director, Head of Education and programme teams to:
- Develop and write new learning resources to support democratic and election education, including materials suitable for tutor time, form time and teachers who are not subject specialists.
- Review and quality-assure draft materials, ensuring they are accurate, accessible and appropriate for a wide range of learners and settings, including FE, alternative provision and SEND/ALN contexts.
- Support the development and delivery of training for teachers, helping both specialists and non-specialists feel confident in delivering democratic education and voter engagement activities.
- Act as a professional sounding board, offering practical insight to help shape new content and ensure it reflects classroom realities.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for practising or recently practising teachers who can bring some or all of the following:
- Experience teaching in secondary or FE settings.
- Experience running tutor time, form time or enrichment activities.
- Experience teaching Politics, Citizenship, PSHE, Modern Studies or related subjects, or experience as a non-specialist delivering democratic or political learning.
- Experience developing or adapting teaching resources, curriculum materials or CPD.
- An understanding of inclusive and accessible curriculum design, including for young people with SEND/ALN.
- Strong communication skills and confidence delivering training or supporting colleagues.
- A commitment to supporting young people to participate in democracy.

Programme Coordinator - Democracy Classroom
£24,000 - £28,000 per year
12-month contract, Full-time
We are looking for a Programme Coordinator who will support the growth and development of the Democracy Classroom network, helping teachers and youth practitioners to engage young people in politics, democracy and elections.

Youth Steering Group Member

Are you a young person aged between 14 and 20 years old? The Politics Project’s Youth Steering Group is an opportunity to support our work in engaging young people in politics and democracy. You can help us to ensure we are delivering what young people want and need to achieve that aim.

You do not need any previous experience being on a Youth Steering Group or any specific qualifications or grades.
