Programme Overview

What is Exploring Elections?

Exploring Elections supported young people aged 16+ to engage in the 2024 Local and General elections by providing free in-person democratic engagement workshops and assemblies for schools, colleges and youth groups.

Delivered in person by The Politics Project team, Exploring Elections offered non-partisan guidance about what elections are for, how to register to vote and the practicalities of voting. The resources used were reviewed by the Greater London Authority and the Electoral Commission to ensure both accuracy and impartiality.

The main outcome of these sessions was to register students to vote. In total we delivered 110 engagements, supporting 11,380 young people, of which 6319 registered to vote.

Post-Event Support

After the sessions, we shared template emails and classroom resources to support registration and engagement in elections.  93% of teachers and youth practitioners reported using this material. As a result 14% of our total registration number came from registrations made after the Exploring Elections events.
