Engaging with Learners with Additional Needs

We also delivered in-person workshops to specialist organisations that work with young people with Special Educational Needs and autism (Caxton Youth and HF Mencap). 100% of practitioners felt the sessions improved their young people’s understanding of how to register to vote and how to vote in elections and made them more motivated to take part in democracy and elections.

In addition to delivering these workshops, we also shared the Exploring Elections resources on the Democracy Classroom site, these were downloaded a total of 377 times.

“Politics is quite a big topic and sometimes isn't tackled or dealt with in a way which feels attainable or would engage anyone let alone young people. The Politics Project isn't afraid to have these big conversations in a way which allows young people to navigate and feel comfortable. Thank you so much for attending Caxton Youth Organisation. The delivery of the workshop was done at just the right level and the facilitators are a credit to the organisation”.
