Digital Dialogue - Secondary And Sixth Form Student Resources

This scheme of work prepares secondary and sixth form / key stage 3-5 students for a Digital Dialogue session. For most students, we recommend using three lessons / workshops to prepare them. Each lesson / workshop is assigned one of the following learning phases: - Explore - fun, interactive activities designed to engage learners at the beginning of their democratic education. - Understand - helps students understand the role of the politician they are going to speak to and the level of government they are from. - Prepare - supports students to research the politician they are going to speak to and prepare questions to ask. Start with an Explore activity, such as The Lego Game or Where Do You Stand, to engage them in the topic. If your students are already politically engaged you may wish to skip this step. Then follow up with an Understand lesson / workshop about the role, responsibilities and powers of the politician the student is going to speak to. Finish with the Prepare lesson / workshop so students go into the dialogue with relevant, interesting questions.
