Digital Dialogue - Primary Student Resources
This scheme of work prepares primary students for a Digital Dialogue session. We recommend preparing your students over three lessons / workshops.
Each lesson / workshop is assigned one of the following learning phases:
- Explore - fun, interactive activities designed to engage students at the beginning of their democratic education.
- Understand - helps students understand the role of the politician they are going to speak to and the level of government they are from.
- Prepare - supports students to research the politician they are going to speak to and prepare questions to ask.
Start with an Explore activity, such as The Lego Game or Where Do You Stand, to engage them in the topic.
Then follow up with an Understand lesson / workshop about the role, responsibilities and powers of the politician the students are going to speak to.
Finish with the Prepare lesson / workshop so students go into the dialogue with relevant, interesting questions.
