Students raise concern over school bus provision in the Crediton area of Devon

PLEDGE STATUS: COMPLETE

On 21 September 2021, year 12 students at Queen Elizabeth school in Crediton took part in a Digital Surgery with their local Cllr Frank Letch.

During the surgery, the students raised two issues regarding school bus provision. First, they pointed that many of the buses were not running on schedule, which meant that students were often late to school.

The sixth-formers then explained that their school timetable was also different from usual and this meant that they were not always able to benefit from the early morning free school buses.

During the surgery, Frank suggested that the student write to him so he could raise the second issue with the Devon Country Council, who could possibly negotiate with the bus companies.

Following the surgery, Frank got in touch with the transport officer, and got back to the school explaining that:

"There is currently no possibility of subsidised bus travel as DCC have supplied free transport for the beginning and end of the school day"

Frank is currently waiting to hear back from the students on which buses are running late, including dates and times. He will then pass this information to the Transport Officer.
