PLEDGE STATUS: COMPLETE

On 21 September 2021, students from Queen Elizabeth's School took part in a Digital Surgery with their local Cllr Frank Letch.

During the surgery, the Sixth Form students raised concerns about the housing situation for children under 18.

One student explained that young people in foster homes were moving around a lot which meant there was a lack of stability. The student suggested the possibility of introducing semi-independent housing for these young people with the aim that this would enable students to live in one place instead of having traumatic moving experiences.

Frank is currently on the Children Scrutiny Committee which has been looking at better experiences for children. He suggested that he could get in touch with the Head of Children Services at the next Scrutiny Committee meeting.

Following the surgery, Frank immediately emailed the Education Officer and told us “ I have called for a report on fostering from the relevant cabinet member which will be delivered at the Full Council meeting early next month"

The report has now been published and the students at the school have received a copy.
