This training supports youth practitioners to invite politicians into their space to meet young people in a way that feels engaging, purposeful and positive. Participants will explore how to support their young people to talk to politicians in a way that helps them build political knowledge, develop confidence, ask meaningful questions, share their views and feel more connected to democratic decision-making.

The training will help participants choose the right format for their group, from Q+As to using games, activities and advocacy work to make the most of politicians’ time and expertise, while ensuring young people are well-prepared and have a clear purpose for the conversation. They will leave with practical tools for helping young people know what they want to say, understand why they are speaking to a politician, choose who to invite, manage impartiality, and facilitate the session well, so that political contact feels meaningful rather than tokenistic.
