In a Digital Surgery taking place on 24th May 2021, a Year 6 student from Byron Court School raised concerns with local London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, Krupesh Hirani, about his local football club having equipment which is ‘very old and rusty’.

He asked Krupesh, ‘can you buy us new ones?’. Krupesh responded to him that he ‘loves football as well’ and explained that if the club came forward, they can put together a bid to have more money for equipment, as there are lots of opportunities for this.

That same day, Krupesh compiled a list of all the funding pots available from Brent Council. This included the ‘Love Where You Live’ grant which can give up to £500 worth of resources, as well as the ‘Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy Fund’ which can give over £500 worth of resources. We were then able to share this information with the student, empowering him to speak with his local community about this.
