Cllr Mackrory finds a space for a new basketball court following student interest

On 8 June 2021, students at The Boswells School took part in a Digital Surgery with local Cllr Mike Mackrory.

During the surgery, the Year 9 students spoke about the the need for more sports facilities in the Chelmsford area of Essex, in particular basket ball courts for young people.

Following the Digital Surgery, Mike responded to the Politics Project in writing, saying that hearing the student’s “the suggestions on what facilities are lacking for young people” would help inform his future decision making and that he would take forward the '“request for basket ball courts.

Since the Digital Surgery, Mike has been exploring the possibilities for a basket ball court within reach of the The Boswells School. In October, he let us know that there was space for half a court. He has been in touch with the school to discuss the suitability of this space.
