PLEDGE STATUS: COMPLETE

On 27th February 2019, students from Lostock College in Tafford, took part in a Digital Surgery with Kate Green MP. During the surgery students asked Kate a question about the then recent decision by the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, to to revoke the British citizenship of Shamima Begum, a British 19-year-old who left to join ISIS in 2015, when she was 16.

Students expressed concern about the decision, and the wider impact this could have on other British citizens. Kate pledged to pass on those concerns directly to the the Home Secretary.

Just 20 minutes after the Digital Surgery finished, Kate took part in a Home Affairs Select Committee meeting, and raised the issue with Sajid Javid, explaining to him the students’ thoughts and opinions about the case.
