Thematic Programmes
We offer a range of thematic versions of our Digital Surgeries Programme to help students explore a variety of social and political issues.
Our COP26 programme supports students to talk to their politicians about Climate change in the run up to the COP26 Climate Change Summit in November 2021. We have three COP26 resources to support students to explore their views on Climate Change and learn about the summit itself.
Our Talking Gender programme was designed in 2019 for the 100 year anniversary of some women getting the vote and explores a range of issues from #Metoo, consent and the gender pay gap. It also includes thematic resources of some of our core activities to support students to learn about a range of issues around gender and identity.
Digital Surgeries USA was a programme that we developed for the 2020 US Elections and supports schools to engage with US politicans, with a particular focus on A Level Politics. We are hoping to bring this programme back for the 2021/2022 academic year so please register your interest if you are interested in getting involved.
Digital Dialogue: Lords supports schools to learn about and engage with Peers from the House of Lords, with special resources aimed at learning about how the House of Lords works.
Understanding Power was designed with world-leading academics from the University of Exeter and explores both Classics and Politics with a particular focus on developing critical thinking skills. Across three sessions the students explore the concept of Power and explore the relationship between the weak and the strong through exploring Thycidides Melian Dialogue. These workshops include a “choose-your-own adventure” interactive session.
Digital Surgeries Wales supports Welsh schools to engage with members of the Senedd and is supported by a range of resources to help students to understand how the Senedd works. Resources are available in English and Welsh.
