Cllr Kidger and Cllr Senior to introduce fluorescent strips on bins to make recycling easier

PLEDGE STATUS: ONGOING

On 19th November 2021, students from Woodkirk Academy took part in a Digital Surgery with two of their local Councillors, Jane Senior and Wyn Kidger.

During the surgery, a student asked them “Do you believe changes should be made to our recycling system?”

When Cllr Senior and Kidger both agreed that there should be, a different student explained how when he was in Primary school he put forward the idea of fluorescent strips being introduced onto bins to make recycling easier.

Both the Councillors were really amused and interested to hear about this. They then stated that it would be a great idea to introduce these in Morley.

Cllr Senior and Kidger have let us know that they will present this proposal to the executive member of the Council who sits on the panel for refuse but it could take many months until a decision is made. This is because they must investigate the costs to introduce it.
